the mondrian mirror - wooden mirror...
By: BTC
The inspiration for this ornate and flamboyant mirror was Madame Pompadour, Louis XIV’s exotic mistress - who was a patron of rococo and would have loved the refined glamour of this mirror, as we do. Its intricate design of handcarved sea-shells, acanthus leaves and branches come in a calm, cream colour or a smart, polished oak wood.
Sheer elegance in a living room above a fireplace or imposing in an entrance hall and stunning in a bedroom above a chest of drawers. To create the English country house or town scheme, add the cream mirror with the Casablanca or Vence coffee and side tables and the polished wood mirror with the Eaton or Bodleian coffee and side tables.
These best-selling mirrors look stylish with the combination of 'new and old' furnishings, either in an urban or rural surroundings. added on 2009-11-03

The inspiration for this design was an antique Spanish canon ball, that were typically made of solid silvered studs. This stunning metal lamp is handmade with rows of individual, silvered studs on a globe-shaped frame with a chrome bayonet fixture.
It adds an interesting edge to traditional interiors, looks fabulous with bold, contemporary schemes or combine it with antique and modern furniture for an imaginative, European look. This smart and stylish lamp is in a league of its own and looks wonderful in a living room or gentleman’s study, chic in a bedroom or dashing in a conservatory.
Team it with its oyster grey shade. To create a striking and confident look - see the 'Minimalist in Rajasthan' room set. added on 2009-11-03

the boules lamp - metal studded lamp...
By: BTC
This majestic design was influenced by the ornate, wrought-iron balconies, in the artistic area of Montmartre, Paris. This commissioned piece was produced by adding the scroll design to the central stem of the lamp and painting it an oyster-grey colour. It sits on a plinth of green, Italian carrera marble and has a protective, black under-baize so, as not to scratch surfaces.
It looks truly wonderful in a living room or study and supremely elegant, either side of a bed or on a console table, in a hall.
It sits effortlessly with period furnishings and traditional textiles or light or dark modern schemes. Team it with a cream shade.
Add this lamp for a traditional look, see our Eaton or Vence collection and for a contemporary look, see our Pichola or Bodleian collection. added on 2009-11-03

the montmartre lamp - metal lamp...
By: BTC
The design of this impressive lamp was influenced by an African Sable antelope. Its beautiful shape has been meticulously hand carved in dark oak to represent the moulding of the antelope’s horn and then highly polished. This handsome lamp with its iconic style enhances traditional period furnishings and has become popular with contemporary interiors as well.
To create a chic colonial look in a hall, living room or bedroom, team this refined tribal piece with its camel-coloured shade and add the Lamu or Caucasus rug and the Bodleian or Casablanca furniture collection depending on the colour scheme you want to achieve. (See our Living room furniture and rugs section for inspiration.)

the antelope lamp - carved wood lamp...
By: BTC
This graceful and unique design was influenced from a Dutch 17th century stone balustrade lamp. We commissioned it in a solid hardwood, painted it pigeon-grey, simplified the carving but retained its sturdy base. We reduced its width to just 11 cms so, it is ideal for slim places like bedside or hall tables.
Due to its colour, shape and exceptional style, it is adaptable for any room and sits comfortably with the traditional rural or contemporary urban schemes.
It is seen in the 'Lure of Lacquer' room set with modern pieces but looks marvellous with the more traditional Vence and Bodleian furniture collections, as well. To anchor the design of a room, choose a colour and repeat it, the Valois coffee table, Leafy mirror and Wedding horse are in the same grey.
Team it with its bespoke eliptic-shaped, silk-string, cream shade. added on 2009-11-03

the facade lamp - painted wood lamp...
By: BTC
This exquisite and clever design was influenced from an original, porcelain urn lamp, in the palace of Versailles. We used a solid hardwood, simplified the carving but retained the French urn-shape with arms and a sturdy base and painted it a rich, camel colour. It can be used for a formal or informal look, either in the living room, bedroom, hall or conservatory.
This classic lamp mixes superbly with old and new furnishings in rural or urban interiors and due to its subtle colour and open-design it blends perfectly with traditioanl or modern schemes. Team it with a cream shade.
For inspiration, see the Avignon lamp in the 'Dream in Cream' room set with beautiful bone inlay pieces.

The inspiration for this 1920's silvered, shiny column was the original star lamps, from London's Savoy Grill. This attractive and ever-popular shape is quite tall but sturdy and looks sensational in a sleek bedroom, comfortable living room or grand in an entrance hall.
This unique and exciting design injects a fresh look to traditional interiors, fits smoothly with contemporary schemes and looks superb in period houses, modern flats and uncluttered corporate offices.
Team it with a gun-metal coloured shade. To repeat the silver theme, visit our Gifts section and to get the look of the Manhattan 'Reading room' or the Hamptons 'Blue Lotus' visit our Designers' studio section. added on 2009-11-02

We took an 18th century French sconce from a baronial castle, in the Loire Valley and increased the glass size and simplified the foliage design so, it can be used as a proper mirror and lit naturally with candles. These clever, baroque wall-lights with tulip-shaped candle holders and arched foliage come in a slightly distressed marble grey and a rich claret red - colours that complement most wall paint colours and wallpapers.
Hang a pair on either side of a picture, window or to frame an important feature in a living room, dining room, kitchen or bedroom or 4 in a hall for instant splendour. Alternatively, hang a pair of each colour in a conservatory and create an exotic and fun mood for entertaining. You can use colour matching candles or natural colour or beeswax.
These beautiful and fashionable mirrored wall lights look marvellous with traditional or contemporary interiors whether you have an urban or rural property. added on 2009-11-02

The inspiration for these sleek, silvered lights came from the original 1920's design, that were used on the dining tables of the luxurious cruise ships.
The simple but clever design comprises a silvered lamp shade that sits in a carriage on the top of the plain column candle with a solid double plinth for stability. It requires a tea light which you place in the glass chamber of the carriage - simply light it and put the shade on !

We commissioned this striking piece for areas with limited space; place several down the centre of a dining table, amongst flowers or a pair on a romantic table-for-two or on a mantlepiece with a mirror behind or scatter them on furniture in the bedroom or on window-cills in the bathroom. They are perfect for mood lighting, whether it is formal, fun, romantic or calm. This sensational candle-lamp sits superbly with contemporary furnishings and adds understated drama to traditional schemes.
Surprisingly affordable accessories for your home, or perfect as unique gifts. added on 2009-11-02

We took a 19th century Danish furniture classic and a British chalk-stripe suit design to create this striking side table, using strips of inlaid camel bone on a solid wood frame. Choose it in sleek black and cream or the softer blonde and cream. The result is a smart and ingeniously unique combination of furniture and fashion.
This compact side table looks fabulous as a pair or stands alone superbly – either way it will be admired. It is practical for storage, with its deep drawer and wide cupboard space and has customised pumpkin-shaped knobs. It looks stunning in tradtional and contemporary living or bedroom interior schemes.

We found 2 tile designs from a courtyard, in a Marakkech palace, commissioned the hexagonal and star design for the top and sides and the trellis design for the feet. The feet are shaped like Moroccan arches and the top is a perfect hexagonal. This dramatic, bone inlay side table in black and white is a simplified version of the 19th century classic.
It sits neatly beside an armchair or partner them either side of a sofa, whilst its taller cousin poses perfectly in a corner, or either side of the fireplace. It can be used as a side table for lamps, candles or stand a vase of flowers or plant on it, either in a bedroom or living room or conservatory.
It looks marvellous with mixed period styles, in rural or urban settings. added on 2009-11-02
