Lentil Ingredients-3/4 cup uncooked lentils-4 tbsp ketchup-1tsp paprika-1 tsp bbq spices-2 tbsp soy sauce-1 onion-1 clove garlic-3 drops liquid smoke-1 veg. buillon cube (I used not-beef)Strips Ingredients-1/3 cup wheat germ-1/2 cup vital wheat gluten-1 tbsp tahini-1 tbsp oil-mashed cooked lentils-1/2 cup bbq sauceIn a big pot bring lentils to boil with enough water to cover. Once it starts boiling, remove from heat and drain lentils. Saute chopped onions and garlic in soy sauce for 3 minutes. Add lentils back to the pot, stir, add water to cover and all the remaining lentil ingredients.Bring to boil and shimmer, adding water when necessary, for 40 minutes or until soft. Drain the lentils from any remaining liquid and place them in food processor with tahini and oil. Process until smooth and mix in wheat germ and gluten. Knead with your hands until it becomes strechy, and lay on a baking sheet lined surface, press down with your hand into a rectangle shape. Cut in strips with a knife. Spritz with oil and place in heated toaster grill. Toast for 3 minutes, open, brush with bbq sauce, toast for 5 minutes, open again, flip and brush with sauce the other side. Toast for another 3-5 minutes and its ready[brush again with sauce]!! This is really good served on a bed of fresh raw spinach with some mustard on the side!! It is quite filing and makes 10 strips, so I would say it serves 3-4 people.
