"Corset piercings are actually just a specific configuration of surface piercings or even just temporary play piercings. They are usually placed in two columns vertically along the back, mimicking the position of the eyelets on a corset. To heighten this illusion, string or decorative lacing can then be threaded through the jewelry.

It should be noted that these piercings are almost always temporary, and tend to be removed shortly after the event they were pierced for. These piercings are usually performed with captive bead rings or even just hypodermic needles; it is not reasonable to heal this modification utilizing this type of jewelry. It should be noted that if left in, much of the jewelery used in corset piercings has a very high risk of rejection, which will most likely leave scarring. Therefore, fairly prompt removal is necessary with most jewelery used. Some corset piercings have been successfully healed using carefully-placed surface bars with bondage/slave rings, but the location still leaves them prone to rejection. " added on 2008-11-30

"No, it's not a distorted picture - Cathie Jung's tiny waist really does measure just 15in. But the super-thin 70-year-old insists there is no, ahem, corset for concern. Grandmother Cathie is perfectly healthy despite having a midriff that can be reduced to the size of a large mayonnaise jar. And having the smallest living person’s waistline has got her into the new edition of the Guinness Book Of Records.

Cathie's astonishing 39-15-39 figure is the result of spending the last 25 years laced into tight corsets, which only come off when she showers.Cathie, from Manteo, North Carolina, reckons that while her corsets restrict her waist they don’t hold her back from everyday tasks.

She said: "I do everything that I want to do. I eat fairly small meals but I prefer that at my age anyway. I find it tricky sitting in low chairs and sometimes in restaurants I have to sit on the high chairs at the bar.

"I even have a special swimming costume with a corset sewn in it, so I can still go to the beach. And I am still able to do housework - unfortunately!"

Cathie's husband Bob is an orthopedic surgeon and he reckons his wife's unique look does her no harm.

She said: "Bob has carried out X-rays on me and says the corset actually helps support my spine. Everything in the midriff is flexible." added on 2008-11-30

"The art of foot binding was in fact once popular and revered in ancient China as a symbol of status and identity. In fact, it has been estimated that approximately 4.5 billion Chinese women had been subjected to this painful art in the last one thousand years.
The general purpose of foot binding was to restrict the growth of the feet so that they would not exceed 3-4 inches. Small feet were considered beautiful and elegant.
Thus the process normally began when a girl was between the age of three to eleven years old, the justification being that the pre-bone cartilage of the arch, which was predominantly water, would be more easily molded than matured bone. The mothers or more experienced female relatives who performed the foot binding were at least thoughtful enough to carry it out in late fall or winter when the foot was generally numb so that the pain would not be so severe.

    *

A foot should be ideally no longer than three inches.

The cleft between the heel and the sole should be 2-3 inches deep.

The foot should appear as an extension of the leg rather than a stand for the body.

This of course means that to achieve these golden ideals, the foot has to be contorted to the extent that the soles are extremely concave, and that the foot is in practice literally folded in two.

The foot-binding ritual traditionally begins with the clipping of the toenails and the soaking of the feet either in hot water or in a concoction of ingredients ranging from various herbs and nuts to less desirable substances such as urine and warm animal blood. This is allegedly to soften the tissue and bones of the foot to facilitate manipulation. After the feet are massaged and doused with alum4 (and please bear in mind that these girls have absolutely no idea what they're in for until the day itself). All the toes on the foot, save for the big one, are broken and folded under the sole, and then the toes are bound in place with a 1''x2" silk or cotton bandage. These wrappings are removed every two days to allow the washing and meticulous manicuring of the toenails to avoid infection. This is no act of kindness - immediately after this pedicure, the bandages go back on, and tighter. And tighter still. Eventually the arch of the foot is also broken and the foot is pulled straight with the leg. The shoe sizes are also reduced gradually to accommodate the shrinking feet.

To encourage the feet to achieve the desired conformation, the girls may be made to walk long distances so that their own weight crushes their feet into shape. Alternatively artificial force in the form of weights may be applied to hasten the process. Occasionally the flesh of the foot would also be lacerated, or sharp objects may be inserted in the bandage to encourage 'excess' flesh to rot away so that smaller feet may be achieved. The washing and binding is carried out by the mother in earlier years; however as time passes, the girls themselves learn to grit their teeth and tighten their bandages on their own.

At the end of two years of excruciating pain, what you get is a pair of tiny - albeit grotesquely folded - feet. Of course, it doesn't just end there. Because feet will tend to conform to nature and grow, this foot-binding process is carried out for an additional ten years or so to make sure that the toes stay in place." added on 2008-11-30

"Nicknamed the Bride of Wildenstein, it is rumoured the American socialite spent a £2 million on a face that only succeeded in ruining the good looks she was born with.

She famously embarked on a radical amount of cosmetic procedures after fearing her millionaire art dealer husband, Alec Wildenstein, would leave her - which he eventually did for a Russian model.

Bizarrely she based her remodeled look on exotic wild cats, which he loved, as she decided that he might find her more attractive if she became "more feline". added on 2008-11-30

"A neck ring is a band of metal worn as an ornament around the neck of an individual. In a few African and Asian cultures multiple neck rings are worn usually to stretch the neck. The Kayan people from the country of Myanmar and Thailand begin to wear neck rings when they are children.
The neck rings of a woman are, in fact, a single brass coil placed around the neck. The first coil is applied when the girl is five years old and with the growing is replaced by a longer coil. The length of the coil and the added weight presses the clavicle and the rib cage, resulting in the appearance of a very long neck. In fact, the neck does not elongate, this is impossible.

The secret of the 'giraffe' women is that the clavicle and the ribs descend 45 degrees down from their normal position. The maximum weight of a coil is of 5 kg. This ancient tradition has unknown roots. The coils may have made Kayan women unattractive to slave trade. Some say that the coils are against tiger bite. More likely, it reflects the neck of a dragon.

For the Kayan women, the coils confer them a tribal identity, associated with beauty. In fact, the coils ensure that Kayan women will marry only inside their own tribe. The rings, once on, are seldom removed, as it is a somewhat lengthy procedure. Many thought that unfaithful women got, as a punishment, their coils removed, which led to their suffocation because their neck broke, but this is nonsense. Many women removed the coils when they felt it as obsolete or for medical examinations.

But most women prefer to wear the rings once their neck are elongated, because the skin portion kept so many years under the brass is often bruised and discolored. And many, after ten years or more of continuous wear, feel the collar like an integral part of the body. Kayan women wear coils also around their knees, ankles and wrists, but this will never capture the attention of the foreigners. " added on 2008-11-30
